Sound and Silence

Music is the art of combining sound and silence in time. This exhibition offered visitors an opportunity to explore the historical development of musical culture in the Armenian Highlands through the story of musical instruments. It presented a music that could be contemplated in silence—by observing, reflecting, and sensing the enchanting resonance of its sounds.

The exhibition "Sound and Silence: The Musician and the Musical Instrument Through the Ages" aimed to illuminate the history of the creation and evolution of musical instruments, their everyday use and functions, their cultural significance, as well as the role of musicians and master instrument makers throughout history. The exhibition featured a diverse range of exhibits, including archaeological artifacts, digitized manuscripts and tombstone inscriptions, archival photographs, traditional musical instruments, and an educational interactive table where visitors could examine and play selected instruments.
