She graduated from the Komitas State Conservatory (1987). In 2005, she received her PhD. Harutyunyan has worked at the Kumayri Reserve-Muse\u00adum in Gyumri and at Gyumri\u2019s branch of the Komitas State Conservatory. Since 1997 she has been working at the Shirak Center for Armenian Studies. Harutyu\u00adnyan is the author of the monograph entitled <em>The V-XV Century Music in the Con\u00adtext of Armenian Historiography <\/em>(2010) and about 50 articles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE ACTIVITY OF THE A\u0160U\u0141 SOCIETY IN ALEKSANDRAPOLE IN THE CONTEXT OF KOMITAS\u2019S FUNDAMENTAL THEORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <em>A\u0161u\u0142 <\/em>society in Alexandrapol (now Gyumri) emerged and developed under the immediate effect of historical-cul\u00adtural processes. This society carried out an important mission with the public acknowledgement it possessed. It was an embodiment of the new qualities in the Armenian national thought in all the spheres of the <em>a\u0161u\u0142 <\/em>school: ideological, propagandistic, music-poetic, etc.<br \/>\nAmong the songs leaning towards the Near East <em>a\u0161u\u0142 <\/em>traditions that constituted the huge heritage of about forty <em>a\u0161u\u0142s, <\/em>the songs based on Armenian verses display the modal, prosodic and stylis\u00adtic features of Armenian <em>monodic <\/em>music.
