Educated at Berlin Humboldt University and being a founding member of the International Music Society, Komitas was actively engaged in German music life. He lectured, had concerts, published articles in German, which until nowadays have core role in Armenian culture. Komitas composed not only in Armenian but also German language and used German poems in his works (Goethe, Lenau etc.).
During this workshop the participants will learn fragments from Komitas’s German “Patarag”, which is based on the German translation of Armenian medieval chants.
